Save Money on Griffins Tickets

griffins_logoHockey season is here! Use your Kent District Library card to get a great deal on Grand Rapids Griffins hockey tickets.

For every Sunday and Wednesday home game (excluding Dec. 31) during the Grand Rapids Griffins’ 2014-15 regular season, present your Kent District Library card at the Van Andel Arena box office on the night of the game or at The Zone anytime during the store’s regular business hours to purchase either an Upper Level ticket for $14 (regularly $16 advance and $19 day of game) or a Lower Level Faceoff ticket for $18 (regularly $20 in advance and $23 day of game). Limit four tickets per card per person, subject to availability.

In keeping with KDL policy, this is not a sales seminar, but an informational program about different models of retirement planning and how to save and protect funds for an attainable and sustainable retirement.

Thank You for Your Generosity!

During the month of August, over 2,000 school items were collected at KDL branches for School Supply Santa. Thank you so much for your generosity during this most recent KDL Gives Back initiative! Local children were able to head back to school with all the items they need to succeed, thanks to your support!

“I want to thank KDL for promoting, supporting and collecting school supplies,” said Denise Kooiker, who runs School Supply Santa. “They played such a huge role in the program this year!”

If you have young children or work in child care and need professional development hours, this series is for you. All of the presenters are certified and vetted through Great Start. The classes are for adults, and child care is not provided.

Write Michigan Contest Kicks Off Today!

Short story writers, grab your laptops for the third annual Write Michigan Short Story Contest, presented by Kent District Library, Herrick District Library and Schuler Books & Music. Entries are accepted now through Sunday, November 30. Writers of all ages can enter, with cash prizes awarded for Readers’ Choice and Judges’ Choice. Winning entries will also be published by Chapbook Press.

Enhance your writing skills by attending one of the short story workshops being offered for adults, teens and children.
