View the Michigan Heart Gallery at KDL

The Michigan Heart Gallery is a photographic display of children in the foster care system that are available for adoption.  The kids featured in the gallery are among more than 4,000 in Michigan who do not have families of their own.  Many of them are older children who have lived with abuse or neglect, have medical issues or are in need of special help.

The main exhibit will be housed at the Wyoming Branch and smaller exhibits will also be available at the Krause Memorial Branch and the Sand Lake/Nelson Township Branch from Wednesday, February 20 to Wednesday, March 12.

Wood, Brass and Class! Wooden Boat Restoration

Here at KDL, we try our very best to come up with new and interesting program ideas to offer all sorts of great events and activities.  We work hard to meet your needs, and who better tell us about these needs than, well… YOU!

If you have any great ideas or have been waiting for that certain special program to be offered at your library, please post a comment here and let us know!  Because we plan for such a large district, we have to plan far in advance, so we are currently looking for ideas for the fall programming season – that’s September, October and November of 2008.  So let the suggestions roll!

Wake Up Bear program at your KDL branch!

Stop your snoring and shake off those winter doldrums with all sorts of winter time fun featuring that sleepy bear from Karma Wilson’s book The Bear Snores On!  Go on a bear hunt, make a bear mask, have a roaring contest, fish for bear food and lots more!  For ages 6 and under.

Build like Bob the Builder at KDL!

Put on your hard hat and construct some fun as we share stories, crafts, games and more – all inspired by your favorite tool man, Bob the Builder!  For ages 6 and under.  Check our calendar to find out when all this Bob-centered fun will be happening at the KDL branch nearest you!

This event is in partnership with the Grand Rapids Children’s Museum’s upcoming Bob the Builder exhibit, in the museum from January 17 to June 1, 2008.

Looking for some Healthy Living tips for the New Year?

Creative Playtime at the Kentwood Branch
