Writers Conference: Register Now!

A reminder will go out to all those registered a week before the conference, and some will cancel, so spots will open. If you are interested, sign up for the waiting list (link is two paragraphs down)!

Attention writers and authors: it’s time to sign up for our fourth annual all-day event, to be held from 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM on Saturday, April 18 at the Cascade Township Branch.

The free conference features nine published authors and publishing pros who will share their advice and expertise, as well as opportunities for attendees to connect with one another. For complete details and to register, click here. This event always fills to capacity, so register early!

Congrats, Write Michigan Contest Winners!

WriteMichigan-blackKent District Library, Schuler Books & Music and Herrick District Library announce the winners of the third annual Write Michigan Short Story Contest. More than 700 writers from across the state entered the contest: 215 adults, 426 teens and 104 in the youth category.

Winners were chosen by public voting at www.writemichigan.org for the $250 Readers’ Choice award, and by a panel of judges for the $250 Judges’ Choice and $100 Judges’ Choice Runner-up awards. They will be honored at an awards ceremony at 2:00 PM on Saturday, March 21 at Schuler Books & Music, 2660 28th St. SE, Grand Rapids. Susan Dennard, author of the young adult series, Something Strange and Deadly, will present the keynote and write the Foreword for the 2015 Write Michigan Anthology, to be published by Chapbook Press.

Genre Derby: Aaaand They’re Off!

Library Beer Party: Details Here!

DSCF2689KDL Director Lance Werner and Englehardt Branch Manager Josh Bernstein recently told FOX-17’s Morning Mix team all about the KD aLe beer making and tasting series and the wrap-up party at 6:30 PM on Wednesday, February 25 at Gravel Bottom Brewery in Ada. As part of the festivities, Gravel Bottom will tap a limited-edition keg-a-roony of KD aLe, a Scotch Ale made just for us (and YOU are invited)!

“Seventh Son” Movie Premiere: Win Tickets!

Seventh Son MovieDid you hear that we are presenting a Seventh Son Movie Premiere at 6:30 PM on Friday, February 6 at Celebration! Cinema North? It’s going to be awesome!

“Seventh Son” Movie Premiere

Seventh Son MovieWalk the red carpet at Celebration! Cinema North (2121 Celebration Dr. NE)! Purchase tickets today to attend the premiere of Seventh Son, the amazing movie based on Joseph Delaney’s “Last Apprentice” series. The event will take place at 6:30 PM on Friday, February 6. Tickets are $15 and include movie admission, popcorn and a drink. We are throwing in cupcakes and some awesome prize drawings!

There’s more! A green-screen will be set up and guests can have their picture taken in a scene related to the movie. They’ll even be able to take home a 5×7 print. Also, Joseph Delaney himself will welcome our guests via a pre-recorded message shown on the big screen.
