I first brushed up on my French before a trip to Sarlot, France in May 2011. I have studied years of French back in my school years and I needed a refresher. It helped some but I had trouble with begging the use of a cell phone as my husband lost his phone and we had no way of contacting our landlord to meet him for the key to our apartment. I thought I was getting better at Spanish but apparently I was saying 'spit on me' instead of 'excuse me'. Before I go to Mexico - I will continue to use Mango to work on my Spanish. My niece is going to graduate school in Bergen, Norway so I look up Norwegian words to impress her. One of my life goals is to be a fluent speaker of some language. Alas, it will take years of further study to achieve this goal. I have had quite a bit of fun learning Pirate!

I don't have a huge story for my mango use. However I used it for my own knowledge. I love to research my family history. I also signed you to allow my son to learn German as well. His school does not teach this and he is learning it on his own. I love having this resource available.

As a student of German, I have always felt that a multicultural education and language learning was of huge importance, especially to our young children, who possess the greatest of language learning retention, fluency, and ability. When my oldest decided to follow my path and signed up for Grandville Middle School's "Introduction to German" course, I was thrilled. When she continued on, I was very proud. Soon, my other children were expressing their desire to embark on a journey through language learning.

When the school district decided ultimately to remove German from their school curriculum choices, I, along with my children, were very disappointed. Yes, my oldest gets to complete her courses in German; however, younger students will not have the same options as she does.

When I found Mango, and discovered not only that it hosts German, but also a whole host of other languages, I found a very useful tool. I tried a few exercises, and discovered that it combines language, grammar, vocabulary, and cultural details. Universities use the same methods when teaching foreign language.

I will be continuing to use it for many things. First, for a tool to begin teaching German to my younger children, second for myself as a refresher course during school breaks, and thirdly, to begin to gain familiarity with other languages.
