Thanks, Diane. It certainly is great to see the way kids respond to these furry friends. We're so glad we've had the opportunity to work with the West Michigan Therapy Dog organization. For those of you not familiar with the program, here are a few pics from our Sand Lake/Nelson Twp. branch: http://www.flickr.com/photos/kentdistrictlibrary/sets/72157623795612984/

As a volunteer with West Michigan Therapy Dogs, I want to thank KDL for being innovative with the Ruff Reader program. My dogs and I have been listening to kids read for 6 summers and it just warms my heart when a child turns that corner and "gets" the excitement of reading. People who don't know about the program are both surprised and intrigued by the concept of children reading to dogs. Thank you for allowing us to use our talents to spread the joy of reading.

Awesome program! My 6 and 4 year old did it last year and this year looked forward to it! My daughters hung it on their door and loved placing a sticker on each day when we read together before bed. Thank you so much for this wonderful summer activity!!!

This program is mentioned every year in my "Summer Reading Club" post! What was different about this program that my kids loved was that they could put the stickers on the days they read - they're both fairly young. They really saw the calendar fill up and I think it was more meaningful when we went to turn in the reading logs. They really understood that they "earned" it. Thanks for a great summer full of events to celebrate reading! KDL Rocks.

Was hoping for some way to tell you how wonderful this was. It was so fun to put stickers on the days when they would sing or tell me a story. Plus, it gave us more incentives to open books daily. Really enjoyed the coloring of the fish as it identified their calendars. I was also impressed with the "awards" the kids received at the end of the club. They were so excited to go to Pizza Hut, getting their haircut and also the future hockey game. They played with all of the toys. It made them feel extra special for "earning" them.

Thank you for all you do!
