Hi Kate,

The changes to the holds policy took place last year (http://blog.kdl.org/?p=1496) and, unfortunately, it does limit resource sharing privileges amongst Lakeland Cooperative libraries. However, many of our online databases and eBook resources have only been available to KDL cardholders from the beginning. Access to these has not been affected by recent policy changes. There are certain eBook and online resources, such as those offered by the Michigan Electronic Library (http://mel.org/index.php?P=SPT--BrowseResourcesDatabases&ParentId=617), that non-KDL cardholders can access, however.

I hope that helps to clear any confusion. Please let us know if you have any further questions.

Thank you,

Eric DeHaan

We LOVE Kent District Library and visit almost every week. I am a little bit confused and frustrated by the changes between the Lakeland Co-op and KDL. It seems like I used to be able to request items and choose to pick them up at my preferred branch and can no longer do that. Is the collaboration between the 2 non-existent now? Also, I was anxious to access the new downloadable music and e-book options through KDL but apparently can't do that because my "home" library is Georgetown Township. Thank you for all that you do-- you are a wonderful community resource that we hope to be able to continue accessing!
