Well I placed the hold to be delivered at the Plainfield branch instead. I haven't gotten an email saying my hold is ready to be picked up, and it's been since the 15th. Do we need to re-register or anything?

I'm hoping that the Encore interface will allow me to log in once and then remember me throughout my browsing and placing on holds.
Will the new system delete any features currently available? I really like the "What's Next" feature and I use it a lot.

One thing that the GRPL catalog does that LakeNet does is let you place holds on a specific copy of an item. This is great when there's a tv series where some libraries have the full season as 1 item while others have the season split into 2 or 3 items.

Will something similar be available in Encore? There are a few TV series I watching through and it's a hassle to make sure I get the right copy.

Dave, you will be pleased to hear that you will indeed be able to look specifically for unabridged books on CD. In fact, we will continue to have separate categories for Cassettes both abridged and unabridged, CDs both abridged and unabridged, MP3 CDs, and downloadable audiobooks.

The MP3 CDs and downloadable audiobooks are usually unabridged, which is why we don't have abridged and unabridged categories for them.

I think you will find that Encore will make it easier than ever to limit your searches to the format you're looking for.

The GRPL system is, in some ways, more limited than the system it replaced. For example, I can't search specifically for unabridged books on CD. The closest I can get is teh very broad category of "Audiobooks." Please tell me that Encore will not lose the search capabilities we've become used to with the current KDL system.

KDL and GRPL didn't "break up." They just use different systems that cannot communicate with each other.

Alison: If you would like to look for GRPL items you can go to www.grpl.org and click on "Library Catalog." If you find something you want, you can place it for pickup at a GRPL library and must return it to a GRPL library.

That's great I'm excited to see the new system. I can find items in the current system but it take more work than other systems I've seen.

Allison, KDL and GRPL broke up. Now, both are separate and you can't have holds go between them unfortunately.
