All KDL patron account information has been transferred to http://ebooks.kdl.org, so you will no longer be able to download items from MCLS. We do have a smaller collection of materials right now, since we’re just starting our new site, but we’re adding more all the time. If you have anything specific that you’d like us to add (especially if it’s a missing series book!), please fill out the “Recommend a Purchase” form at http://www.kdl.org/books_and_more/go/recommend_purchase_form and we can try to get it for you.

I apologize for the difficulty in connecting to your account. OverDrive is aware of the issue and is working hard to fix it. If you have access to a different computer, you may want to try using that instead. Otherwise, please call our Patron Services Department at 616-784-2007 before 5:00pm today and they can log into your account for you and check out the hold so you don’t lose your place in line. (You will then still have 21 days to return to your account and download the checked-out title.)

Yes, the connection issue appears to be intermittent — some people have had success by switching to a different computer (as you did), or waiting and trying again later. OverDrive is aware of the issue and is working hard to fix it.

While we did buy copies of all titles that our patrons currently had checked out or on hold, it’s possible that some things in your previous wishlist did not meet that criteria, so we don’t own them yet. If you can remember specific titles, please feel free to request that we purchase them by filling out this form on our website: http://www.kdl.org/books_and_more/go/recommend_purchase_form.

The Digital Bookmobile will be at the Grandville branch on Monday from 1:00-6:00pm, and at the Wyoming branch on Tuesday from 1:00-6:00pm. They should be able to help you download eBooks to your iPad, but feel free to check our new eBook help resources at http://www.kdl.org/books_and_more/go/downloads_help or give us a call at 616-784-2007 if you need any assistance in the meantime.

We have decided not to subscribe to the Disney Digital Books at this time, as there was some limitations to their use (they used Flash and therefore could not be used on iPads or other portable eReaders), and we instead devoted that money to purchasing additional children’s titles for our new collection (Berenstain Bears, Curious George, etc.) You can see all our Kids books at http://ebooks.kdl.org/BrowseKids.htm.
