My children and I go to the Grandville library once and sometimes twice a week for story-time and to pick out new adventures to read. As a student and a mother of four my budget is very tight, the library provides a way for me to have my kids reading new books everyday. I couldn’t possibly afford to buy my kids a new book every week, let alone everyday! KDL is a gift that keeps on giving to our family, we love walking there together and spending a few hours reading, playing games, or doing crafts. Thanks Grandville KDL for all that you give to our community and family.

My love of the Library began when I was just a small girl. I used to set up the ironing board (at waist level for me and my brother and sisters), I would gather all the books in the home and set up my ‘library’. We played for hours, checking out the books and then returning them to check out more.
My 1st grader fell in love with reading through a wonderful program his teacher had implemented. The 1st grade class was challenged to ‘read’ 100 books. The class would visit the library at school to take out books. Children were encouraged to go to the public library to take out books. Volunteer parents would come daily and sit in the hallway. One by one the children would go into the hallway and give a verbal book report of the wonderful books they had ‘read’. The teacher gave little prizes every 5 or 10 books (erasers, pencils, stickers). When the 100 book goal was reached, the child would wear a crown and robe during class. A wonderful program that instilled the love of reading.
My teenager enriched his mind by reading the computer magazines — cover to cover, growing in knowledge and the love of learning more than expected.
To this day, I try to visit the Library at least one to three times a week to explore. The subject list is always varied, but the time invested is enriching, educational, and oh so relaxing.
The staff has always been a wonderful part of my visits. They are not only professional staff representing the library, but acquaintances, friends, and a great source for questions, directions, or suggestions for a great book.
I appreciate the KDL staff, and the efforts to make a great Library system for our community.

I have a new-found love for the library! We used to take things for granted, especially the gift of the library. Now that I’ve been without a job (or Unemployment) for 4 months, I utilize the library for everything from books, video game disks and music CD’s to internet access and printing. Our boys LOVE checking out their favorite book series. The Kent District Library has been a shining blessing for us in these tough times and we will never go back to taking it’s services for granted!

I adore going to the library and do so a least twice a week! I’m still in school and I don’t have the money most of the time to buy the books or CDs I want and sometimes need for school. So it’s so wonderful to have access to everything the Library offers me and my siblings. But the thing that was the most life changing for me was volunteering every summer. I never thought it could be so fulfilling just to help set up tables or watch over children color and play games! It’s brought me closer to my other siblings that I volunteer with and has also brought my a few yet wonderful friends.

I have always loved going to the library. I remember going as a child and young adult coming home with a huge stack of books. Now I take my children and they too have come to love going to the library. They love to play in the play area after picking out books.
We join every reading club and try to attend events whenever we can.
I really like that I can find books on-line put them on hold and pick them within a few days.
I am very thankful for a wonderful library and will be visiting again this week!

I have been a fan of the library since I was a kid. I remember taking home stacks of books and staying up reading for hours after my bedtime. As I grew I continued to go to the library. I know take my 2 year old, who loves the library. We will sit and read book after book. In this digital world, it is harder and harder for libraries, but I will always enjoy a good book in my hands. I also use the on-line service. My favorite part of kdl.org is the “What’s Next” section. I have to read books in the order which they were intended and for me the What’s Next section helps me get those books in the order I need.

The Cook Family lives out of the library. We took our tiny tots to Storytime with Miss Barb and Miss Morgan. We explored all the picture books, lying on the library floor on our bellies. We carefully placed stickers each day on our Summer reading charts and waved them proudly in the face of our friendly librarians to claim our prizes.
My library card is memorized. Besides books, I came to learn to make jewelry,found recipes for making clay bricks for learning ancient history. I got lost in the Yada Yada series,found a book to help me study for the CLEP exam, and ran into lots of friends and neighbors at the checkout.
My husband is an over-the-road trucker, so his best companions are the audio books he takes with him for company. He has read hundreds, maybe thousands of books on the road. For him the Library is a best friend while he drives.
So, we will be at the library, sometime this week,picking up our holds, saying “Hi” to friends and librarian friends as we load up our book bags. We are ever so grateful for our friend the Library!

I have loved the library since I moved to G.R. in 1960 and walked to the main library downtown. I love requesting the books that I want and having them delivered to my library. (especially the newest books). I now take my 2 granddaughters to the library to play and check out books and movies. I don’t know what I would do without a close library.
