Think Before You Print

Wednesday, July 7th, 2010

I am not sure why, but the last two weeks I have seen a couple blogs about being green and printing.  One thing I like is that there are a few different logos you can add to your emails to reminder others to not print.  Because, let’s be honest, we all know someone who automatically hits the print button for everything!

So consider this another blog reminder that not everything needs to be printed.  Your emails can be saved and stored online.  Not only does that help the environment, but using the online searching might make it easier to find what you need.  Or create folders and store emails that way.  The environment will benefit and we will be closer to that paperless society!

Early Lit Bits Newsletter

Wednesday, July 7th, 2010

early-literacy.JPGThe Kent District Library wants to help get your child ready to read and write! Early Lit Bits is a free electronic newsletter highlighting fun and simple activities that you can do with your children to achieve that goal.  This monthly newsletter includes educational crafts, musical activities and resources, fun ways to promote writing readiness, ideas on how to help children experience nursery rhymes in an active way, and a featured KDL library program that promotes early literacy.

Read the most recent issue or sign up to receive this valuable resource. Make sure you put a check mark next to “Early Lit Bits” to get this newsletter, although we encourage you to sign up to receive our other newsletters as well.

For more information on the skills your child needs before he or she learns to read, visit the Play-Grow-Read section of the KDL website.  You can also stop by any KDL branch — our youth librarians would love to share their knowledge with you!
