Enjoy a delicious meal and help support the library. The Sand Lake branch presents a “Soup’s On” Fundraiser at 5:00 PM on Friday, July 16 at the Nelson Township Hall. Try a variety of soups from local restaurants and vote for your favorite. The cost is $5.00, which includes dessert and beverages. Sponsored by the Friends of the Sand Lake/Nelson Township Library.

At 6:30 PM, participants can head across the street to Salisbury Park to enjoy a “Bluegrass in the Park” concert. Local, popular musicians inluding Isaac Smith and Luke Gitchel will perform a variety of bluegrass music. Donations will be accepted, and lawn chairs are recommended.

I am not sure why, but the last two weeks I have seen a couple blogs about being green and printing.  One thing I like is that there are a few different logos you can add to your emails to reminder others to not print.  Because, let’s be honest, we all know someone who automatically hits the print button for everything!

So consider this another blog reminder that not everything needs to be printed.  Your emails can be saved and stored online.  Not only does that help the environment, but using the online searching might make it easier to find what you need.  Or create folders and store emails that way.  The environment will benefit and we will be closer to that paperless society!

The Kent District Library wants to help get your child ready to read and write! Early Lit Bits is a free electronic newsletter highlighting fun and simple activities that you can do with your children to achieve that goal.  This monthly newsletter includes educational crafts, musical activities and resources, fun ways to promote writing readiness, ideas on how to help children experience nursery rhymes in an active way, and a featured KDL library program that promotes early literacy.   

Read the most recent issue or sign up to receive this valuable resource. Make sure you put a check mark next to “Early Lit Bits” to get this newsletter, although we encourage you to sign up to receive our other newsletters as well.
