New Teen Mystery Series

Friday, September 30th, 2011

It seems like teen publishing is where everyone would like to be. Another “adult” author has made the leap into the teen area. (Although I will admit that none has made me happier.) Harlan Coben’s new Mickey Bolitar series, starting with Shelter, has joined the teen mystery section. Harlan Coben’s adult mysteries are fast-paced and full of action and thankfully, Shelter is also! Mickey Bolitar is very similar to his uncle, with a nose for getting into trouble. When Mickey’s girlfriend goes missing, he will not rest until he figures out what happened.

James Patterson, of the Maximum Ride series, is another successful author who now writes for teens and adults.

KDLville Early Literacy Play Spaces

Thursday, September 29th, 2011

The Caledonia Township Library opened their new 18,000 square foot building last February with a KDLville early literacy play space.  With a tree stump entrance into the area, interactive end panels, and fun crafts at the art cart as permanent fixtures, the space has been a big hit in the community. Some favorites from the rotating toys have included a kitchen, a car ramp, a doll house, and magnetic gears. The writing center includes monthly activities to help children get ready to write. Be sure to stop in soon and check out the latest addition that is sure to be a hit: the new grocery shelf and shopping cart!

Tuesday, September 27th, 2011

Our new eBooks for Kindle have certainly been popular! Since the service first went live last week, KDL patrons have already downloaded almost 500 free eBooks for their Kindles or Kindle apps, quickly becoming the second most popular digital format that we offer.

If you haven’t tried out this amazing service yet, it’s a very easy process, as shown in the video demonstration below:

KDL’s free eBook collection at http://ebooks.kdl.org is available 24/7, and since items are “returned” automatically, you’ll never have to worry about late fines!

Don’t have a Kindle? Amazon offers Kindle apps for computers and mobile devices, or you can download ePub-formatted eBooks to a variety of eReaders and mobile devices as well.
