Catalog & Online Patron Account Issues

Tuesday, February 21st, 2012

The Lakeland Library Cooperative performed a maintenance update on the online catalog and patron account information systems earlier today. Everything is back up and running again; however, response time for catalog searching and account information lookup may be still be slow.

If you prefer, you can contact our Patron Services Department at 616-784-2007 until 8:00 PM tonight and a staff member can assist you with holds or account information over the phone.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your patience.

UPDATE (2-22-12): Everything should be functioning normally again. If you are still unable to access your account, please contact us at 616-784-2007 for assistance. Thank you for your patience.

KDL Earns Major Statewide Designation

Monday, February 20th, 2012

Pardon our horn tooting, but we’re proud to share news that the Library of Michigan has awarded Kent District Library its “Excellent” level designation of the Quality Services Audit Checklist. To earn the three-year certification, KDL demonstrated its competence in seven categories of achievement including human resources; governance/administration; services; collection development; technology; facilities and equipment; and public relations/marketing.

KDL is only the third library system in the state to currently be designated with “excellent” status besides Charlevoix Public Library and West Bloomfield Township Public Library.

Froi of the Exiles by Melina Marchetta

Saturday, February 18th, 2012

I was lucky enough to get an early look at this sequel to Finnikin of the Rock and I totally loved it!  Froi of the Exiles is set one year after the end of Finnikin and it follows one of the secondary characters.

Froi was found on the streets, so he doesn’t know anything about his background. He is sent on an important undercover mission into the neighboring kingdom of Charyn by the leaders of Lumatere to bring justice for the murders and invasion of the past eighteen years. But Froi does not find it easy to carry out his goal. The kingdom of Charyn has not been living in peace these past eighteen years. The story unfolds as Froi uncovers secrets and meets unexpected allies.

Froi of the Exiles is coming out in a month, so be sure to check out Finnikin of the Rock now!
