The Kent District Library Fund recently purchased two new AWE Early Literacy Stations for the Alto and Tyrone Township branches of KDL, adding to the three already housed at the Kentwood, Krause Memorial and Wyoming branches.
The stations are kid-friendly computers pre-loaded with educational software packages geared toward toddlers through second-graders. With color-coded keys, engaging graphics and a variety of interactive tools, the Early Literacy Stations make learning fun. Designed with kids in mind, there is little to no adult intervention required.
Many of the pre-loaded programs are designed for specific age groups and skill levels. Plus, children can use the programs in either the English or Spanish language mode. The Early Literacy Stations are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
The goal of the KDL Fund is to have an Early Literacy Station in each of the 18 library branches within the next year. KDL thanks all of our donors for their generous support!
