Word Wise Teen Poetry Contest

Time to lay down some rhymes, yo.National Poetry Month

April is National Poetry Month, and once again that means KDL is hosting our ninth annual Word Wise teen poetry contest.

From April 1 to April 30, teens are invited to submit their original poems online or at their local KDL branch.  Winners will be announced mid-May, and each of the six winners will receive a $50 gift card to Schuler Books & Music.  The winning poems will be published on the KDL website.  Take some time to check out our teen page for a complete list of rules and an online entry form.

Guest judge is David Cope, Grand Rapids Poet Laureate, close friend of the late great Beat poet Allen Ginsberg and an enthusiastic supporter of new writing talent.

If you’re looking for a little inspiration, check out a list of teen poetry books that are KDL staff favorites.  We are looking forward to another month of great poetry submissions.  Happy writing!
