El Día de los Niños / El Día de los Libros
Celebrate El Día de los Niños / El Día de los Libros (Children’s Day/Book Day) with KDL! A celebration will take place at 2:00 PM on Saturday, April 28 at the Kentwood branch. Children of all ages are invited to enjoy traditional Mexican crafts, music, a performance by the dance company Grupo Tarasco and other activities.
Children’s Day/Book Day, founded by author Pat Mora in 1996, is a daily commitment to link all children to books, languages and cultures.

I have no problem with learning about other cultures, but how about a day that celebrates American heritage as well as all the others you have events for.

Steve,
Thank you for your suggestion. We do try to offer programs that explore American heritage as well. This season alone, we are offering a program on American Jazz, an African American film documentary, a program on Michigan’s culinary heritage, a children’s program on Michigan called “Explore the Mitten,” and a Michigan Author Showcase featuring dozens of local authors. If you have suggestions for programs, please let us know.
