May Is Postpartum Depression Awareness Month

Did you know that May is Postpartum Depression Awareness Month in the state of Michigan? This illness affects many families, and often cases go undiagnosed or untreated. The Michigan state senate approved and passed State Resolution 47 on May 4, 2011 in an effort to increase public awareness of postpartum depression.

KDL recognizes the need to educate the public on this very important subject and has complied a Postpartum Depression book list with several helpful resources to aid our patrons.

If you or someone you know may be struggling with postpartum depression, please contact a health-care professional or visit Spectrum Health for more information, resources, and details about local support groups.
