Read, Write, Discuss

The Caledonia Township and Kentwood branches have teamed up with Davenport University to present a Community Read program. The featured book is The Other Wes Moore by Wes Moore. The book tells the story of two kids with the same name who grew up in the same decaying city. One grew up to be a Rhodes Scholar, decorated combat veteran, White House Fellow and business leader. The other is serving a life sentence in prison for felony murder. It is the story of two boys and the journey of a generation.

You are encouraged to read the book and share your thoughts with others. Book discussions will take place at 6:30 PM on Thursday, October 4 at the Kentwood branch and at 6:30 PM on Tuesday, October 9 at the Caledonia Township branch. You will have an opportunity to meet Wes Moore at an Author Appearance at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, October 17 at the Davenport Lettinga Campus.

You are also invited to participate in an essay contest based on the book. Rules and applications are available at the Kentwood and Caledonia Township branches.
