New Account Feature: Freezing Holds

Going on vacation? Worried that the book you placed on hold months ago will arrive while you’re gone and you won’t be able to pick it up?

Well, you don’t have to worry about missing out on that long-awaited book — your library account now features the ability to “freeze” your holds so they won’t be be filled when you aren’t available to pick them up.

To Freeze Your Holds:

  1. Log into your library account
  2. Look for the Freeze column to the right of the titles you have on hold. Check this box for all the titles you want to freeze. (Note that you can’t freeze a hold that is already in transit or ready for pickup.)freezeholds.jpg
  3. Click the Update List button at the bottom of the screen
  4. When you return from vacation, just log into your account, un-check the box in the Freeze column, then click Update List again to “un-freeze” your holds.

Note that library staff are unable to freeze and unfreeze holds for you — you must log in to your account online to do this, although staff will be happy to walk you through the necessary steps if you need assistance.

Happy Reading!

This is fantastic! This way I can add books I want to read to my list but don’t have to have them all sent to me at the same time. Thanks for the change 🙂
