Some of the hottest authors in teen literature have just released new series titles. All of these books have recently had their film rights purchased, so look for them to be made into movies.
The Diviners by Libba Bray
Evie O’Neill has always had the power to tell a person’s secrets by holding an object they own. This gets her in big trouble, but she is pos-i-tute-ly ecstatic to be sent to New York City to live with her Uncle Will. Soon, a series of brutal, occult-based murders occur, leaving the city terrified. The Diviners follows Evie and a group of young New Yorkers with mysterious powers who play a dramatic role as a terrible evil rises. Bray paints an accurate portrayal of prohibition-era New York City, gives us characters we truly care about, and weaves a tale that grips readers to the edge of their seats. Libba Bray is the author of the highly-acclaimed Gemma Doyle trilogy as well as Beauty Queens, a 2012 Thumbs Up finalist.
The long-awaited and highly anticipated sequel to Daughter of Smoke and Bone is here! Days of Blood and Starlight finds Karou coming to terms with who and what she is, and how far she’ll go to avenge her people. As the book begins, Karou is the target of an international media frenzy as reporters attempt to uncover any information about “the girl on the bridge” and her relationship to the angels spotted in Prague. Filled with heartbreak and beauty, mysteries and secrets, new characters and old favorites, Days of Blood and Starlight brings the richness, color and intensity of the first book to a brand-new canvas.
The Raven Boys by Maggie Steifvater
Blue Sargent, the daughter of the town psychic in Henrietta, Virginia, has been told for as long as she can remember that if she ever kisses her true love, he will die. Though she is from a family of clairvoyants, Blue’s only gift seems to be that she makes other people’s talents stronger. Gansey, one of the Raven Boys from the expensive Aglionby Academy, has talents of his own and is convinced an ancient Welsh king may be buried in the Virginia countryside. When Blue and Gansey join together, they discover their talents are a dangerous mix. A harrowing tale of friendship and adventure from Maggie Steifvater (author of the Shiver Trilogy and The Scorpio Races), The Raven Boys is the first installment in “The Raven Cycle,” a four-book set.
