In this quirky dramedy, Betty, a seemingly happy wife and mother, faces the truths of her life and family through the lens of a videocamera.  Cruel But Necessary begins with a painful home movie revelation about her husband. Throughout the movie, Betty delves under facades with her camera tucked into a very ugly purse.  Her journey is at times funny, painful, flaky, poignant and cruel, but necessary.
