The magic of The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern is hard to duplicate, but here are some reading suggestions of books that might fit the bill.

For a dark twist on the traveling circus, try Ray Bradbury’s classic Something Wicked This Way Comes.  Instead of an enchanting circus, the two young boys must save their town from the darkness that descends with the ringmaster Mr. Dark who can grant the most secret wish.

For an interesting twist, try The Night Bookmobile by Audrey Niffenegger.  This short story turned graphic novel shows the life and sacrifices of Lexi, whose chance encounter with the night bookmobile has unexpected consequences.
