A new series, especially from a known author, usually is very exciting. But the second book in a series is also highly anticipated. Here are a few second books that have been recently released.
Scott Westerfeld is one of those authors that I will read whatever he writes. Behemoth is a steampunk alternative history set right at the beginning of World War I. My main concern before starting was that the Leviathan, which is actually the living ship (and the title of the first book) would be replaced by this Behemoth since the ship was almost another character of the book. Needless to say, the book was great and the art by Keith Thompson just added the icing to the cake!
I have just started reading Crescendo by Becca Fitzpatrick so I can’t say much yet! I read Hush, Hush, the first book of the series, because of the cover. The image of the falling angel with just that little touch of red would catch my eye and the new book cover is just as good. Crescendo should have more information regarding the mystery surrounding Nora’s father along with her relationship issues with Patch, her guardian angel. Even though I am not far into the book, a new Nephilim character has been introduced, so it will be interesting to see where this book goes.
Beautiful Darkness, the sequel to Beautiful Creatures, by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl delves deeper into the Caster world. Ethan feels Lena pulling away from him but doesn’t understand the reasons behind it. This book focuses on Ethan as he unravels the events of Lena’s birthday and discovers the source of the mysterious songs he has been hearing.
