After a very successful series like Percy Jackson, there can be some apprehension on the readers’ side about a new series. Especially when that series is set in the same universe and even in the same camp! So the question is: Does The Lost Hero live up to the Percy Jackson legacy?
In my humble opinion, I think that this book is just as good as the original series! When I first started the book and found out that it was set about a year after The Last Olympian, I was worried. How could I enjoy a new Camp Half-Blood book with Percy being only a small part of the book, a figure in the background? Thankfully, Rick Riordan knows what he is doing. Percy is very much present in spirit (and I will say no more). Plus it actually was great reading about familiar characters and learning how things changed since the big battle last year.
Additionally, the new characters are very interesting. Jason, the new hero, enters the story with no memory of his past life, but he has battle skills and a sword. So where did he come from and why was he never a part of Camp Half-Blood? Piper is the mysterious girl with great skills of persuasion while Leo is mechanically inclined and the comic relief. I also love the dragon on the cover!
So go ahead and read this book! If you already have read the book, leave a comment to let us know what you thought. If you haven’t read it, are you going to read it?
