Author Doris Lessing Dies at Age 94

lessing_sv_ak_photoNobel Prize-winning author Doris Lessing died Sunday at the age of 94.  Ms. Lessing wrote many novels, short stories, essays and poems, but she is most well-known for her novel The Golden Notebook.  Published in 1962, the book was considered daring and was a frank exploration of the inner lives of women who were free to live their lives without the constraints of marriage or children.

Her last novel, published in 2002, was “The Sweetest Dream,” which the author considered a stand-in for a third volume of her autobiography.  The book focuses mainly on the 1960s.
