2011 Debut Authors for Teens

December is usually a time to reflect on the year past, but it can be fun to look ahead to see what books are coming out.  Here are some eagerly anticipated books for 2011 from new authors.

Across the Universe by Beth Revis will be released January 11th.  Seventeen-year-old Amy joins her parents as frozen cargo aboard the vast spaceship Godspeed and expects to awaken on a new planet, three hundred years in the future. Never could she have known that her frozen slumber would come to an end fifty years too soon and that she would be thrust into the brave new world of a spaceship that lives by its own rules. Want to read the first chapter?

Angelfire by Courtney Allison Moulton is scheduled for a February 15th release.  Ellie has power that no one can match, and her role is to hunt and kill the reapers that prey on human souls. But in order to survive the dangerous and ancient battle of the angels and the Fallen, she must also hunt for the secrets of her past lives and truths that may be too frightening to remember. The author lives in Michigan.

Clarity by Kim Harrington will be released March 1. When you can see things others can’t, where do you look for the truth? Clarity “Clare” Fern sees things no one else can see. Things like stolen kisses and long-buried secrets. All she has to do is touch a certain object, and the visions come to her. It’s a gift.  And a curse.  When a teenage girl is found murdered and Clare’s brother is the prime suspect, she must venture into the depths of fear, revenge, and lust in order to track the killer. But will her sight fail her just when she needs it most?

So Shelly by Ty Roth is scheduled for a February 8th release.  Until now, high school junior, John Keats, has only tiptoed near the edges of the vortex that is schoolmate and literary prodigy, Gordon Byron. That is, until their mutual friend, Shelly, drowns in a sailing accident.  After stealing Shelly’s ashes from her wake at Trinity Catholic High School, the boys set a course for the small Lake Erie island where Shelly’s body had washed ashore and to where she wished to be returned. It would be one last “so Shelly” romantic quest. At least that’s what they think.
