It is great that KDL offers Mango, but sometimes I wish KDL’s selection of foreign language moves on DVD was a little better in order to help me with my language learning. The selection of Indian (Hindi) movies, in particular, is rather slim. I realize I can make purchase suggestions, but I’d feel silly doing that every single time I wanted a certain movie.

Thank you so much, KDL, for offering Mango Languages. It is a wonderful service and I’ve learned so much Chinese through it!

  3. Penni Says:

Joshua, thank you for letting us know of your interest in movies in Hindi. KDL has a popular materials collection, and we try to buy videos with the widest appeal to KDL’s patrons. We do try to include the most popular or acclaimed foreign films as well. Because these DVDs float around KDL’s eighteen branches, they are not always easy to find. Here are the results of my catalog search. I did a keyword search for videorecording, limited my resuts to DVDs, then limited the language by clicking the Hindi button in the Language tab. KDL owns a significant number of the DVDs I found, and you can place a hold on any of these KDL DVDs. http://frodo.llcoop.org/iii/encore/search/C%7CSvideorecording%7CFf%3Afacetmediatype%3Ah%3Ah%3ADVD%3A%3A%7CFf%3Afacetlanguages%3Ahin%3Ahin%3AHindi%3A%3A%7COrightresult?lang=eng&suite=pearl

Penni, thank you. I’ve actually already seen everything in Hindi in KDL’s DVD collection. I do have a question though, why does Encore seem to lack the “Kent District Lib. (all branches)” limiter that is found in the classic catalog? The search you performed in Encore shows 47 results, the same search in the classic catalog, limited to all KDL branches shows 31. 16 titles are ones that I cannot request because of the current non-print loan policies, it would be nice to be able to quickly filter them out.

  5. Penni Says:

Joshua, I am sorry we lost that handy filter in our move to the Encore Catalog. I have passed your comment to those in charge in case it is ever again an option. Thank you for your input.

  6. Barbara Says:

After several sessions of using Mango, my son’s progress disappeared and only the first 2 lessons were available to him. Is there any way to remedy this?

  7. Sheri Says:

    Hi Barbara,

I would recommend contacting Mango’s tech support people to see if they can investigate the issue. You can reach them Monday–Friday, 9am–5pm EST at 877-MANGO-11 (877-626-4611), or by submitting a ticket on their website at http://www.mangolanguages.com/support/libraries. I hope this helps!

    Thanks,
