Jane Heiss named Hometown Hero

This weekend The Sun and News, the weekly paper that covers the Caledonia area, named KDL’s Jane Heiss as a Hometown Hero. Jane, the Branch Manager of the Caledonia Township Branch of KDL, will serve as the grand marshal of the Fourth of July parade in Caledonia. She was nominated as a Hometown Hero by Dee Hudson, and her nomination was approved by the Caledonia Township Board of Trustees.

Jane has done a lot for her community including bringing back the Skerbeck Carnival to Caledonia this year and chairing the effort every other year to bring the circus to town. She is a longtime member of the Caledonia Women’s Club, a member of the Kiwanis Club, and part of the Builders Club for two local middle schools. Jane is an active and vital supporter of local schools, businesses and residents in Caledonia, but KDL is most proud of her 15 years of tireless work and advocacy for the Caledonia library.

Congratulations to Jane on this honor!

Jane is a great person. She loves her teen volunteers and lets them do as much as she can. She is a very friendly lady and the library would not be the same without her. we love you Jane.

I had the great pleasure to work with Jane – when I was in high school and she had just started working for KDL in Byron Center.(A long time ago..lol)
I learned from her to never stop learning, never give up and remember to laugh. So Congratulations and Best Wishes to a very busy- yet awesome woman.

Jane is a fabulous “library lady” and all around great person. I always enjoy chatting with her at our local branch and getting reading recommendations. She takes time to know what everyone is reading and their likes and dislikes. Also, we very much enjoyed the carnival this year. Thanks Jane for all your work on that!
