Red Cross Blood Drive

Are you tired of carrying around the same old blood, day after day?  Lucky for you, the East Grand Rapids Branch is hosting a Red Cross Blood Drive this Friday, August 1 from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.!

Held in conjunction with the release of Breaking Dawn, the final book in Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight series of teen vampire novels, this is your chance to “get bitten” for a good cause. There is a significant blood shortage right now, and every pint collected can save 3 lives.  So how can you help?

  • Call the East Grand Rapids branch at 647-3880 to sign up for an appointment time (scheduled every 15 minutes between 11:30 a.m. and 4:45 p.m.)
  • Or, just stop in anytime during the blood drive! There is a critical need for blood right now, and no eligible donors will be turned away.

To see if you’re eligible or to find out more about the donation process, read about being a donor on the Red Cross website. We look forward to seeing you August 1!

Hi Devon – You have to be at least 17 years old to give blood. You also must be healthy, weigh at least 110 pounds, and not have donated blood in the last 8 weeks. For more information, or to find a blood drive near you, contact the Red Cross or Michigan Community Blood Centers.
