I love the new site! You are truly amazing!

Your web site does not work properly. I cannot scroll to the far left of the web pages. What goes? I am running Windows XP with a 17″ monitor, and your site is the only one I have ever had this problem with. This makes some of your pages rather difficult to fully understand and navigate. Please asvise that you are aware and a fix is soon in the making.
Also, above, the Line for “MAIL” is not all that obvious that this is an E-mail address, especially to others who are not as savy to the internet as you might be.

I’m afraid Charlie is right. The problem occurs if the browser window is smaller than the page, or the screen resolution is smaller than 800×600. This happens in both Firefox and IE, and is a pretty big problem. But, I’m sure the solution will be pretty easy. Perhaps you just need to specify the width in the CSS file for the main div tags? The site is pretty, though, and I appreciate the search being more visible. Cheers, -Tait

Congratulations! Very effective and useful site! I really like the bookflips — makes virtual browsing nearly tactile rewarding, too, since the covers are linked to reviews and the catalog.
The content is well organized: I could find answers to all my user questions quickly. Broad categories at the top, detail links on the left — hard to get away from that two-tier navigation, but yours is an elegant implementation.
The search tabs at the top of the page are a great touch! No matter where I am on the site I can jump right to the catalog if something piques my curiosity.
Very nicely done! Yours is a model site!

Hi all,
Thanks for the feedback thus far. You are certainly correct regarding the issue that occurs with screen resolutions less than 800×600, and we are looking into possible options.
Also, regarding the “MAIL” label on the blog, I can see how that might be confusing. We will update that as well.
Again, we appreciate the feedback, and will certainly do all we can to make kdl.org as user-friendly and useful as possible. Please continue to let us know what you think via the blog, email, or in person.

Wow – what an upgrade! This is a very elegant WordPress site. I submitted it to CSS Remix.
I think you should be able to deal with the 800×600 CSS centered content issue, but the site will still need to scroll to the right. Hard to design for all screen sizes.

Ah Excellent, and exciting! I was waiting for KDL to do something like this.

Hi all,
The 800×600 resolution issue has been corrected and it is now functional in that resolution. Viewing in 800×600 does require a minor amount of side-scrolling, but the content is available — unlike before. We tried to design the site to accomodate as many users as possible, but we’ve tried to focus our design primarily on the needs of the vast majority of our users.
We certainly appreciate all of the positive feedback so far and encourage you to continue to let us know what you think; regarding the website and/or anything else KDL-related. Thanks!

Hello, Even with the old website, every time I would click on the future books or DVD’s, the page comes up blank. Any ideas? Thanks!

Love the site awesome!

I have the same problem with the left side not showing – but JUST on THIS page. Not the home page!
October 17th, 2007 at 1:23 pm
Hi all,
Thanks again for your feedback so far. Please continue to keep your comments coming as they help us identify possible areas for improvement. A few people have commented on the “Future Books/DVD’s” links on the homepage and how they have had problems with these. One thing to keep in mind is that these are PDF documents, so you do need the Adobe Acrobat Reader (or browser plug-in) in order to view them. You can dowload the reader for free here:http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html.
If that doesn’t correct the problem, you may want to check your browser setting preferences, as sometimes it will try to open the file using the Reader Program directly as opposed to doing it right from the browser.
Last, if you seems to be having a recurring issue with the website that hinders your experience, please feel free to email me at webmaster@kdl.org and I will help you directly.
Thanks!

How about the ability to create user profiles, and add your review & rating of different books/films on their lakenet.llcoop.org page.

Hello from Oz! I volunteer at a small library, & at our training session, we were given book-site helps, with KDL on it. As I am from Maidstone, visiting your library will be on my next trip back home. I LOVE our tiny library, and all its inhabitants (books, wildlife, staff & the public). And as I am oldish, i cant comment on the system or site as yet…….but I’ll get there.
