Author Tony Hillerman Dies at 83

tony_hillerman.jpgTony Hillerman, well known author of mysteries set on a Southwestern Indian Reservation, passed away on Sunday, October 27th in Albuquerque.  The book The Blessing Way, first published in 1970, started the Joe Leaphorn and Jim Chee series.  Tony Hillerman wrote the series to bring a deeper understanding and respect of Native American culture.  The series continues for eighteen books ending with The Shape Shifter, published in 2006.  Tony won a number of awards for his writing, including the Edgar Allan Poe Award.
