Digital Bookmobile Visits KDL!
If you want to learn more about the library of the future, plan to visit the OverDrive Digital Bookmobile when it makes a stop at KDL. Check out the nationally touring vehicle, a 74-foot, 18-wheel tractor-trailer, and learn how to download books and audiobooks from KDL. The Digital Bookmobile will visit the Grandville branch from 1:00 – 6:00 pm on Monday, August 22 and the Wyoming branch from 1:00 – 6:00 pm on Tuesday, August 23.
Come enjoy interactive demonstrations, high-definition instructional videos and a Gadget Gallery, which shows the various devices that work with this technology. The bookmobile is equipped with broadband Internet-connected PCs, high-definition monitors, premium sound systems, and a variety of portable media players, all of which will help visitors explore KDL’s download service. Attendees can even register to win a new Nook eReader!

Yeah, me too. After all, the Kindle is the best selling e-reader!

OverDrive (the company that provides our eBook service) and Amazon are hard at work to make library eBooks compatible with the Kindle. They expect this to launch this fall — stay tuned, as we’ll be sure to publicize it widely once this happens!
Thanks,

Please don’t leave out my beloved iPad with the Kindle App and Audible App! I’m dying for a compatible app from KDL.

Hi Ruth Ann,
OverDrive has assured us that when Kindle compatibility becomes available, it will be available for devices running the Kindle app as well. In the meantime, you can use the “OverDrive Media Console” app on your iPad to access eBooks and eAudiobooks from KDL right now! See http://help.overdrive.com/MyHelpMH22 (eBooks) and http://help.overdrive.com/MyHelpMH06 (eAudiobooks) for instructions, and just let us know if you have any questions!
Thanks,
Sheri

Will the digital bookmobile be making any stops to one of the libraries at the north end of town? Sure hope so!

The Digital Bookmobile is only scheduled to visit the Wyoming and Grandville branches of KDL. We hope you’ll make the trip and come and check it out.
