Mystery Writer Donald E. Westlake Dies at 75

Donald E. Westlake, an award-winning mystery writer, passed away on December 31, 2008.  Westlake published his first novel, “The Mercenaries,” in 1960 and wrote under a number of different pseudonyms, including Richard Stark, Tucker Coe, Samuel Holt and Edwin West.  A number of his novels were turned into movies and he wrote screenplays as well.  One of his screenplays, “The Gifters,” was nominated for an Academy Award in 1991.  His final book, Get Real, is scheduled to be released April 2009.
