KDL Board Welcomes New Appointees

The Kent District Library Board announces the appointment of a new Chair and Vice Chair and welcomes two new Board Trustees. Shirley Bruursema, former Vice Chair, was appointed as the new Board Chair, and Charles Fry was appointed as the new Vice Chair. These appointments follow the term expirations of former Chair Joel Hondorp and Treasurer Sandra Wisniewski.

Along with these Chair and Vice Chair appointments, two new Trustees were appointed to the Board. Scott E. Petersen, appointed to replace Hondorp, will represent Region 7, including the City of Grandville and Byron Township. Denise VanEck, appointed to replace Wisniewski, will represent Region 3, including the City of Walker and Plainfield and Alpine Townships.

The Kent District Library Board is composed of eight Trustees representing geographic regions of the KDL Service Area. KDL Board Trustees are appointed by the Kent County Board of Commissioners based on recommendations from the eight regions and serve four-year terms. The KDL Board meets monthly and major duties include establishing library policies, employing the Library Director, adopting an annual budget and approving the expenditure of funds.
