Early Lit Bits: “Five Little Monkeys Reading in Bed” Book Review

Five Little Monkeys Reading in Bed by Eileen Christelow

Eileen Christelow has written many books with the five little monkeys as main characters. Her newest addition, Five Little Monkeys Reading in Bed, will warm hearts anew. Mama has read to her monkeys and now she is ready for them to settle down and go to sleep. The little monkeys want one more story! Finally, Mama is forced to take the books with her. Just as the monkeys are nodding off… what do they hear? Does Mama like to read in bed too?

The vibrant illustrations and rhyming text make for a great read aloud. It is important for children to see reading as a fun activity. This will help them develop Print Motivation. Making books part of a bedtime routine helps to accomplish this skill. There is nothing better than reading in bed with your little monkey.
