Best Teen Books of 2011

December is the time of year when we start getting the “best of” lists. Teen books are not any different. Kirkus Reviews are a great source for librarians to see what is new and noteworthy. They also published a best of 2011 list for teens. Here are some of my favorites or ones I didn’t get time to read yet (from the list)!

What was your favorite book(s) of the year?

Daughter of Smoke and Bone is, by far, my favorite book of 2011. Laini Taylor has given us a clever, unique story unlike anything we have seen in Teen Fiction (or anywhere else) thus far. Moreover, she uses language beautifully to tell the tale of Karou, an art student living in Prague. As more readers become aware I predict this title has the potential to generate a “Hunger Games” type popularity.
