Experience Summer Online: Sing (2013)

SingDig into summer fun!

Try an activity, attend a program or read a book from the list below, then share your experience in the comments section. Complete at least one of the listed ideas, then ENTER HERE to win gift cards and other prizes!

Activities:

  • Check out a CD from your library.
  • See a summer concert at a local festival or the Frederik Meijer Gardens Summer Concert Series.
  • Take a picture of yourself playing an instrument, singing or at a concert and send it to us.
  • Download some songs from Freegal and tell others your favorites in the comments section below.
  • Sing fun songs while riding in the car.
  • See the Grand Rapids Symphony during Picnic Pops at the Cannonsburg Ski Area.

    While riding ithe car around town yesterday with my grandson running errands we sang songs to make the time between errands go faster. Some of the songs we sang included: Ten Little Indians, This Little Light of Mine,The wheels On the Bus Go Round and Round etc.

    My family and I were running errands all day. My siblings and I had nothing to do so to make the time fly by and to have fun we sang the songs on the radio like just give me a reason by pink, stay by rihanna, and lots more songs. It was so fun.

    Andrea, That sounds like a lot of fun! Did you know that KDL offers a free service where you can download 3 songs a week that you can keep? If you go to http://www.kdl.org/downloads and click on Freegal, you can log in with your KDL card. Once you’re there you can find songs from P!NK and other great artists that you can download to your smart phone or computer. Hope you find some more great tunes to listen to this summer!

    Lily learned a lot of new songs at Girl Scout day camp and sang them in the car on the way home.

    When my family goes places we sing songs in the car. Sometimes we sing along with songs on the radio and other times we sing songs I’ve learned in school.

    We are going to Vacation Bible School this week, and my favorite thing about it is learning fun new songs! Tomorrow night we get to have a show for our moms and dads so all the kids from VBS can sing the songs we’ve learned this week!

    My mom has checked out cd’s from the library before for us…stuff like stories to listen to while we’re driving and a Veggie Tales cd that sounds like cowboy music. I sing with my mom in the car alot.

    While traveling in the car my son and I sing songs. They sometimes are on the radio, silly songs we make up, songs he has learned at school to songs sung in church.

    Hi everyone! With all your practice singing in the car, it sounds like you’re ready for the Grandville Idol Talent Show on August 1st at 7pm! The finest young talent in grades K-8 will perform for the top spot. Stop in the Grandville Library for rules and entry forms. Break a leg!

    I’ve checked out CDs from the library but mostly download music KDL doesn’t have-Japanese anime songs-online using KDL computers. I can sing one Swedish songs, two Korean songs, and over forty Japanese songs and counting.

    My son’s favorite song this summer is Lego House. He just got it downloaded onto his tablet and now he can listen to it whenever he wants.

    My son couldn’t wait to listen to The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. He loves singing along with the dwarfs on Misty Mountains. As a big fan of JRR Tolkein’s stories and the movies, listening to the music pulls you right back into the story.

    I got to listen to live music at the Suttons Bay art festival and brought home a pin for my backpack. I also listen to the radio every day and love to sing along with my favorite songs.

    After I did the Ruff Readers program on Tuesdays in Rockford, my mom would take me down by the dam to listen to the Rogue River Blues free concerts. I like to look for turtles with the music in the background.
