I hope everyone is having a great summer and will try some of the library’s electronic materials, like those listed above!

Thinking about starting a Scratch programming club at the library this fall. Anyone out there also interested in Scratch to help us get started?

Also did you know we are looking for volunteers to help record audiobooks and poetry podcasts. Please comment below if you would be interested in helping with our projects either as a voice artist or in the editing work.

  3. Amy Says:

Love reading the eBooks offered by the library! Freegal and Hoopla are great as well!

  4. Kelaine, KDL Staff Says:

Hi Amy, glad you are enjoying the Overdrive digital books as well as the music mp3s through Freegal and streaming movies available through Hoopla. We add new materials to all three resources on a regular basis and love to get recommendations for purchase if we don’t have a book you would like us to offer.

Today I read the tumblebook What Color is Caesar? The website is very fun I liked it a lot.

I just sang along to The Itsy Bitsy Spider on Tumblebooks with my 3 year old sister. She loved it!

  7. Kelaine, KDL Staff Says:

So glad everyone is enjoying the Tumblebooks library this summer. I enjoy reading them while babysitting my younger nieces and nephews.

  8. Ivy Says:

We listened to the TumbleBook, Rapunzel and the Seven Dwarfs. It was funny and we were laughing. It had two stories mixed up.

  9. logan Says:

I looked through the zinio magazine Horse and Rider with my aunt because she loves horses.

  10. Kip, KDL Says:

Nice job Ivy and Logan for trying out some of our “tech” stuff. I read a lot of magazines on Zinio myself. All things e-book, e-audiobook and for downloadable movies and magazines are here: http://www.kdl.org/downloads
There is a lot to explore!

  11. Wendy Says:

I’ve read several ebooks from the library over the summer. It is great to be able to read at night after my husband is asleep without having to have a light on. :-) I’ve also listened to a couple audiobooks as I’ve gone on my daily walks. It really makes the time go so much faster. Overdrive is great and gets a lot of use on all of my electronic devices.

  12. Kelaine, KDL Staff Says:

Wendy, you mentioned several WONDERFUL perks of downloadable books.. no light to bother another person in the same room and easy assess to audiobooks for walks or trips. Also you are able to download them onto multiple types of electronic devices. I have KDL’s ebooks.kdl.org page favorited on my laptop internet browser and Overdrive app is downloaded on my android phone and ipad, so my books are always with me.

  13. Lorelei Says:

I love, love, love electronic resources at KDL! I’ve used Tumblebooks, Book Flix, Hoopla, Overdrive for audiobooks and e-books. I think I’ll go download a Freegal song as soon as I’m done typing this…

I went on Trueflix. I learned about the digestive system and the Krakateu volcanic eruption. I also used Culturegrams to learn about Iceland.
