Try an activity, attend a program or read a book from the list below, then share your experience in the comments section. Complete at least one of the listed ideas, then ENTER HERE to win gift cards and other prizes!

Activities:

Visit any of our Kent County Parks this summer and experience one of the following:

  • Take some pictures of the park and share one with us or just tell us about it in the comments section below.
  • Play on a playground. Each one is different.
  • Have a picnic in a park.
  • Get some exercise in a county park by biking, walking or jogging.
  • Draw a map of your local park just for fun!
  • Fly a kite at a county park.
  • Splash in a splashpad or one of the lakes.
  • Play a sport at a park like basketball, tennis or volleyball.
  • Do something you’ve never done before, like canoeing, riding a paddleboat, geocaching, fishing, swimming in a lake, birdwatching or playing disc golf.
  • Learn about nature on a county park interpretive trail.
  • Volunteer some time to make our county parks better!

    Hi. My family had a picnic at the park. we had homemade pizza. Then we went and played on the playground. It was a lot of fun. I want to do it again sometime.

    Our family takes a weekly trip to the Comstock Park branch of KDL followed by a heavy play session at Lydell park! It is one of our summer treasures! My girls will remember these trips forever! This week we had lunch in the park. :) Talk about a fun afternoon!

    My husband took our girls to Millenium Park to celebrate the end of school. They tried out several of the different playgrounds and play stuctures. what fun they had! They were so excited and tired when they came home from their park adventure.

    I played in the spashpad at Pinewood Park in Kentwood! It is a good way to cool down on a hot, 80-degree weather day!

    My 5 year old daughter and I went to Millennium Park and went bird watching. We brought a Michigan Bird Book and binoculars. We listened to the birds and then tried to find them. Super fun!

    Hi Laura, I’m glad you had fun at Millennium Park! That is a great park and I ride my bike through there on a regular basis on the trails.

    Me and my family visted the playground at Heritage Park. My brother enjoyed the rock climbing wall.

    My family played disc golf at Heritage Park for the first time. I used a white frisbee. It was so fun

    There’s still time to visit a Kent County park this summer, but don’t dilly dally. Summer goes by fast.

    My family and I were able to ride down the Kent Trail that ends in Byron Center. The trail was so pretty the whole way!

    Spent some quality time at Frog Hollow with my little boys. They really enjoyed the slides and the swings as well. Definitely will go back again soon.

    Our family has visited multiple parks this summer. We especially like going to Millennium Park. My husband and I will run with the youngest in a stroller and our 6 year old rides her bike. We really enjoy having a picnic afterward and the girls play at the park. We also visited Wedgwood Park last week after picking up new books at the library. :-)

    My boys and I went to Heritage Park and played disc golf. It was a lot of fun. Great seeing how well my youngest did at the game for his first time.

    This summer I went to a summer camp for Art. I’ve never been to a an Art camp before but it was a great experience. I learned a lot about Art.

    We have a Kent County Park behind our house and we go there a lot. In fact, we just went there yesterday! I like to play tag there.

    I visited Millenium Park last week. I love to climb the ropes, get buckets of water dumped on my head on the splashpad, and swim at the beach. I had so much fun!

    I like to go to Meyers Lake Park to go fishing and go to the beach. I also went to Millenium Park and the splashpad.
